Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart but a modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exiling them to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to their captors, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations long perished now. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level.
The game brings back the oldschool challenge with highly tactical real-time combat and grid-based movement, devious hidden switches and secrets as well as deadly traps and horrible monsters. Legend of Grimrock puts an emphasis on puzzles and exploration and the wits and perception of the player are more important tools than even the sharpest of swords could be. And if you are a hardened dungeon crawling veteran and you crave an extra challenge, you can arm yourself with a stack of grid paper and turn on the Oldschool Mode which disables the luxury of the automap! It was great on Pc, its the same on iPad. Just having good ios games that are not f2p with iap is awesome!
Fantastic conversion of the PC game. No ads, no freemium nonsense, just 100% game. If you want old-school dungeoncrawler gameplay, then it doesnt get much better than this. Also, 4 hours in and no crashes or bugs yet! (on an iPad Air 1)
It is a good conversion however a few hours in i found some bugs in the game.
When you first pick up the bow in i think the third floor, when i tried to put it in a bag with nine spaces. The game actually put the bow and some arrows on the border of the bag not in the allotted space for it.
Also when i clicked on a stack of something (potions, herbs, mushrooms, etc.) it shows two of the items. A singular one and a one with stacks. I tried adding the singular one to the stack and they both just disappeared when i closed the box showing up he stacks.
Asides from that great game over all.
Dungeons, puzzles and monsters. What not to like ? This amazing gem work perfectly without any crashing even on ipad2. Dont miss out !

This is a good game. Experience system works well. The combat system is fairly intuitive and reasonably balanced. Casting spells takes advantage of the touch screen. Challenging puzzles. This is a real deal dungeon crawler not one of those grid square games.
Playing on 6-plus is a real treat. Cloud-saving is awesome, too!
Some bad moments
Forget playing this on iPhone 4s, the screen doesnt adjust to fit and you cant access all the control icons. Too bad, this is a great pc game. You would think they would have an auto fit function in the program.
I know this game was marketed on the whole principle of being "old school" - but come on! It becomes obscure very very quickly. This is not logical puzzling, its "read the developers mind". It becomes a waste of time very quickly. I would love to play this game, but its just not worth the monstrous time investment in figuring out its difficulties. Very well made game, but consider what you want out of your entertainment before purchasing.
Lets see, absolutely zero personality or story difference based on your characters. No dialogue except one sided during some dreams. Poor interface for using items in the world, casting spells and moving (moving fast and well being the difference between life and death). Identical walls everywhere. Uninteresting combat. Frustrating save system. I could go on. I dont recommend this game (obviously).
I grew up playing bards tale on an apple 2gs and this brings me back. Ive been loving every minute of it and it looks and plays great on the new 6s.

The iPhone version is near perfect in the translation of this pc game to iOS, but the iPad version is an insufferable crashing monstrosity. Please fix this issue.
